One week until the Marathon Relay!
Next Sunday is the relay! I'm excited. I like the idea of running as a team. We're trying to break 4 hours. I know my friend Jennifer is probably LOL right now that 5 fresh pair of legs can't beat her BQ time. But we're realists - we know our limitations. But we know the benefits too! One of my teammates has hypertension that is now totally controlled with running. And we're all getting off the couch getting physically fit. It's nice we can have a bit of camaraderie once a year.
Oh! I missed my Friday lunch run...GRRRR...I was so ticked off that I quit work early at 4 PM and went for an after-work run. I kept my heart rate under 70% max and it was a good run, 4.8 miles. I love my Garmin. I never thought I would love it so much. I love the instant feedback. I'm so glad that NB convinced me to get one. I was going to get a Polar heartrate monitor that was almost Cdn$200 and he said for another $130-$140 bucks, I could get the 305 instead...plus the US$50 rebate made it even more worthwhile! I still haven't found the Holy Grail of software. I'm looking for an alternative to the Garmin Training Center software. I like MotionBased because it's web-based, but I know the Mac version is watered down. TrailRunner is okay. I downloaded Ascent yesterday.
And today, I grudgingly hopped on the treadmill today. It probably wasn't that smart, as it was a heavy thunderstorm outside and I shouldn't have been on a static electricity generating treadmill! But I did manage a nice and easy 9.25 miles. (Note to self: I need to look into getting the footpod for the Garmin! I'm so spoiled with having everything automatically uploaded to my computer!)
OH! I was selected as the first contestant to play "Deal or No Deal" on Love is in the Details. I'm generally a better cheerleader than a contestant, but I'll give it a good try anyways! :-)
And last week, my daughter M had her first dance recital. Unfortunately The Husband had to stay backstage with M and I had to man the camera. I didn't have time to set a white balance or check if I could use a lower ISO than 800 :-( Anyway, she did great! Here is one picture that I actually made dark on purpose to disguise the lack of custom white balance - and blurred the dancers next to her since I don't have permission to post their pics ;-)

I'm so stinkin excited for you guys and your race! You're gonna do great! And oh my oh my, where did my speed go? My hip is rejecting this multiple marathon idea.
What's the deal or no deal thing?
Little Miss M is absolutely adorable!
