there are good days...
...and there are bad days. Today was a bad day.
I wanted so badly to go for a run last night, as it was beautiful weather, but the Husband took such a long time puttering around the yard that by the time he was done, I was out of time. And I'm still on the outs with my treadmill.
So I went out today at lunch, hoping the rain would hold off. It did, but my legs felt just as heavy as the air.
I am running the 3rd leg of the marathon relay - which happens to be the shortest leg - YAY! It is only 4.6 miles and I am hoping to run it in 45 minutes or less on race day. While I am happy to report that I did manage to run that distance within that self-imposed time limit, it didn't feel good, KWIM? I have run that route before with a spring in my step. My colleague NB thinks it's the lactic acid in my legs that I need to get out with some strength work. We'll see.
It started sprinkling at mile 4 of my run today (which was planned to be 5 miles) so I started heading back to the office. The rain stopped once I reached the block. As I was doing some post-run stretching, the !%^$^&% sprinklers of the Legislature grounds went off and I went scampering for dry ground. Luckily for me I was in workout clothes...but unfortunately for 4 office workers, they were not. LOL. The Husband told me later that the Leg uses river water to water the grounds....EWWWWWW!!! I wiped myself down with a dozen baby wipes as soon as he told me that.
My right knee is giving me a bit of grief. It is supposed to be my good knee! (My left one was scoped a few years ago and half the cartilage cleaned out...but rehabbed) I think it's classic "runner's knee." I'm going to start a strengthening program as soon as the marathon relay is done...I don't want to risk being injured for the event. Only 12 more days!

12 more days!? How exciting! Race day adrenaline will get you there, no worries.
I'm battling the pains too. It hurts worse when I'm NOT running. Take it easy and try icing it. It's so frustrating to battle constant pains and injuries, grrr!
